Manna
Digital photographic images.
2019-2020.
MANNA was conceived as a celebration of multiculturalism and diverse heritage (including my own) in Brexit Britain. It used the significance of food and the landscape in shaping a sense of belonging, while also recognising the importance of personal heritage.
Initiated during my Master's Degree in Photography, and photographed between COVID lockdowns, MANNA brought together a group of collaborators of mixed-heritage backgrounds with whom I created image sequences or ‘chapters’ based on our discussions. Images deliberately sit in dialogue with each other in order to explore the narratives and experiences of the collaborators. Some of the work was subsequently showcased in SOURCE Magazine and garnered critical acclaim from curators at Bloomberg and New Art Exchange.
The sequences and layouts presented here reflect the original printed ‘zine’ and exhibition ideas.
