Glimmer

Digital photographic images.

Glimmer began as a dialogue between myself and my immediate environment of the South Downs in the UK. I wanted to know if the land could satisfy my need for belonging at a time when I felt disenfranchised from the country of my birth. I was curious about how the landscape can become an extension of the self and a space for the narratives we place upon - with both positive and negative outcomes.

To explore this I temporarily left food, found objects, and mementoes in the environment, ‘rediscovering’ them again after various periods of time had left their mark on them. At that poiunt, I photographed them in-situ using mirrors as surfaces to both isolate and embed the objects within the surrounding environment.
