Bio & Contact
James is a photographer, artist, and creative director born in the UK to English and Italian parents. His portfolio contains both personal and commercial works built on non-formulaic, intuitive, and improvisatory processes. Inspired by his own nomadic life experiences and the ambiguities of contemporary society, he explores the often surreal and volatile nature of belonging, food culture, consumption, migration, and cultural identity.
He has made photography and artworks for notable creative institutions and brands including The Royal Opera House (London), Rebel Rebel (Australia), Siren Design (London), The Swatch Group (Switzerland), The National Theatre (London), Charleston (Sussex), Boosey & Hawkes, Penguin/Random House, and many individual artists and musicians. He has exhibited at the V&A in London, Hull International Photography Festival, and Home in Manchester and has been published in The Observer, The Guardian, The New York Times, SOURCE Magazine, Ain't-Bad, and other prominent media outlets including the BBC. His work has garnered critical acclaim from industry voices including curators at Bloomberg and the New Art Exchange. He has co-created a number of participatory arts projects including those with Corridor (UK) and Brighton Photo Fringe.
He studied Theatre & Visual Arts at Dartington College of Arts and holds a Master's Degree in Photography from Falmouth University. In 2023 he relocated from the UK to Australia.
